Insight awarded $23 million Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) ‘Environment Online’ contract with partners Microsoft, NGIS & Maptaskr
Sydney, NSW, August 11, 2021 – Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), today announced that, in partnership with Microsoft, NGIS, and Maptaskr, it has been awarded the $23 million Environment Online contract led by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER). The Commonwealth-State collaboration project, which is linked under the Digital Environmental Assessment Program (DEAP), will minimise delays in environmental assessment and approval processes in Western Australia, and assist in the State’s post-pandemic recovery.
Insight, alongside partners Microsoft, NGIS, and Maptaskr, will develop and implement Environment Online, a three-year transformational program of works, which will provide streamlined environmental regulatory approvals for major projects across Australia. Aligning closely to Australian and Western Australian Government digital strategies for online service delivery improvement, Environment Online is an end-to-end, consolidated digital platform built within the Microsoft Ecosystem with the capability to conduct environmental assessments seamlessly across organisations, state government agencies, customers, and industries.
“Insight is thrilled to be selected as the contractor for the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Environment Online engagement. We are excited to be a part of an innovative digital transformation initiative that will provide immediate positive impact to Western Australia’s post-pandemic recovery. It’s encouraging to see the intentional shift within State and Federal Government in prioritising projects such as Environment Online as key drivers for a more secure, sustainable, and inclusive digital future,” says Mike Morgan, Senior Vice President and Managing Director APAC, Insight.
Insight Australia has a strong track record and portfolio of successful projects across the WA public sector, as Phil Rickson, Insight’s Vice President, APAC Services explains: “This project builds on the number of transformation projects we have delivered across the Western Australian Government, including Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Department of Communities, and the Public Sector Commission.”
Echoing Insight’s reputation for public-sector project innovation, Andy Wood, National Civilian Government Lead, Microsoft Australia says: “The WA Public Sector was one of the earliest adopters of cloud technology in government globally, with the state also boasting world leading capabilities in Cyber, Life Sciences, Automation and Data Science. The tyranny of distance that once held the state back now represents almost limitless opportunity for Western Australia’s digital ecosystem. Once-in-a-generation transformation initiatives like Environment Online being built on trusted Microsoft platforms by exceptional partners such as Insight, demonstrate Western Australia’s prominent role in the transition to a digital economy.”
Key partnerships have played a crucial role in developing an end-to-end digital platform for DWER. Phil Barlow, Director of Partner Technology, Microsoft Australia says; “This is a perfect example of how digital transformation can streamline operations and accelerate innovation. The genuine partnership between the companies combines leading edge technologies with technical excellence and expertise to create a richly featured digital platform that will help Department employees to do their work efficiently, streamline processes associated with environmental assessments, and create new ways for businesses and the public to engage. Microsoft is proud to play its part.”
NGIS will leverage their specialist geospatial expertise to lead Geospatial integration and outcomes for Environment Online. Their advanced technical expertise around a variety of partner technologies, and experience across multiple business domains will feed into this exciting partnership for optimal project outcomes. “NGIS is proud to partner with the Insight team, providing the geospatial expertise necessary to deliver an exemplary solution for DWER and its stakeholders. This project sets an important precedent for location intelligence enablement, which will showcase technology innovation to support and accelerate decision making and approvals across the great state of Western Australia,” says Krystle Dobson, Senior Account Executive, NGIS.
Geospatial and Microsoft Dynamics specialist, Maptaskr will provide integration between the geospatial and Microsoft Business Solutions stack together by providing crucial mapping needs for the Environment Online Project. Brian Ambrosius, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Maptaskr states: “As a Western Australian business, Maptaskr is hugely proud of partnering with Insight to assist the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation with implementing Environment Online. This platform will combine geospatial data with enterprise information to deliver a true one-stop shop customer-centric solution and provide DWER with extensive business insight to support better regulation of the environment.”
Insight’s Environment Online solution will significantly improve DWER’s service delivery capacity and see immediate acceleration in major project approval times. With delays in major projects costing proponents tens of millions of dollars per year, Environment Online will streamline and reduce assessment times, which can save industry-led projects up to $72 million per year and up to $100 million per year for State Government infrastructure projects.
